Blairsville Scottish Festival June 12-13, 2010

Back in 2008, my husband and I attended the Blairsville Scottish Festival.  We had a blast that year, even in the pouring down rain.  The rain made all the more ‘Scottish’.  The rain really came down during the Highland Games Athletic Competitions, and made the games all the more interesting.   I had to admit, I was fascinated with the Border Collie demonstration and the Falconry as well as the actual Athletic Competitions.  Sean was able to find out a bit more about his clan, but we have a long way to go to trace his roots.  I honestly felt a bit of an outsider with only a little Scot in me, and a whole lot of German and English.  However, everyone I talked to loved having me there and wanting to learn more about the Highland traditions.

I’ve made a quick slide show below so you can get a glimpse of whats in store for this year.

This year’s festival is the weekend of June 12th and 13th, 2010, and will once again be at Meeks Park in Blairsville, GA.  Activities will include:

Pipes & Drums
Music &  Song
Dance
Kid’s Stuff
Genealogy
Animals
Weaponry
Live Demos
Workshops
and of course the Highland Games Athletic Competitions

Fun for the whole family.  For more information, directions, and tickets, here’s the link, enjoy!
